Makeup Minerals and Mineral Makeup : Not the Same Thing
Makeup minerals can be confusing. The past year’s media blitz with mineral makeup has everyone looking for natural mineral remedies. However, not all makeup minerals are good. Some of the most popular are totally ineffective. If you choose to use these mineral makeups, they may cause some difficulties.
We all want to get the most out of our mineral makeup. But, they probably shouldn’t switch all their makeup over to mineral makeup. Maybe they just want earth minerals. Or maybe its just for the anti-aging benefits. They may just want to keep away from makeup minerals that may cause problems.
You should completely understand the mineral content in your natural makeup. Below is a brief list of makeup minerals. You will understand your makeup’s contents after reading this.
• Zinc and zinc oxide
These are quite typical ingredients in mineral makeup products. These minerals are natural sunscreens. These pure minerals are also great for smoothing and hiding wrinkles. When you have these minerals in their purest form, they will not aggravate your skin.
• Titanium dioxide
In pure mineral makeup, this is a very popular ingredient. Your complexion will be smooth if you use this type of pure minerals. This is recommended for those with acne or rosacea problems as it can help relieve. When its mixed with synthetic ingredients it makes the end result far less hypoallergenic.
• Mica
Mica is what puts the anti-aging factor in mineral makeups. It reflects light out of wrinkles. It will draw attention away from any irregularity. When this mineral is added to makeup, it is ground up so fine that you can’t tell its there. This is a very popular anti-aging and camouflaging ingredient even in non-mineral makeups.
• Bismuth
Bismuth is controversial. It is a natural mineral. To be put in mineral makeup, Bismuth must first be processed. It is very hard to just grind this mineral into a powder. There are a few people that claim it shouldn’t even be considered a pure earth mineral. Many people like it because of the fresh “glow” you get. If you sweat or have very sensitive skin this mineral will cause you to itch.
• Talc
One of the most often used minerals is talc. Talc has always had a major part in all makeup since the beginning of makeup. But, many people are highly allergic to this mineral. Its main role is as a filler. Talc is in most all conventional makeups. More often than not, mineral makeups exclude talc even though it is a makeup mineral because it is known as a common allergen.
